If there is one thing that is guaranteed with Shooting Stars, it’s that every series gets more and more bonkers! Which is why we love it right?! Good....because this series is certainly no exception!
The hit comedy panel show hosted by Vic Reeves and Bob Mortimer, was first broadcast on the BBC in 1993. With celebrity guests, surreal humour and an absurd challenge for one lucky member of the winning team, Shooting Stars has become somewhat of a national treasure with a cult following.
When they did a Christmas Special back in 2008 to celebrate their 15th anniversary, it was only a matter of time before they had to announce the return of the show and a new series....and we weren’t disappointed when a sixth series was announced the following year.
With a few tweeks to the original format; including the introduction of kebab van driver Angelos (who is just hilarious!!) as the new score keeper, the show has just rocketed back to its former glory!
Long running Lighting Designer Martin Kempton was back, supported by Richard Martin Lighting to create a bold, bright and energetic look to compliment to chaotic craziness that goes with the show and also the new strong and vibrant set.
The new lighting rig comprises of a heavy mix of Martin Professional units including Mac 500s, Mac 600s, Mac TW1s. Also included are Stage Zoom 1200s, VL3000 Washes, VL500s, 300mm Chroma Strips and Chroma Flood TCs.
With a constant use of a variety of gobos completing the visual of the show throughout, the Stage Zoom 1200s were the perfect choice!
Random rounds (my favourite been the Dove from Above) mean that the show is a continuous stream of laugh out loud humour. How Reeves and Mortimer manage to keep coming up with all of the content for the show is beyond me, but ones things for certain, for as long as they do, there will be a place for it on our screens.
