Richard Martin Lighting (RML) showed their continuing support as LAMDA’s Principle Lighting Partner by donating lights to their annual musical which this year is Parade.
The dark and gritty story is being shown at The Old Vic Tunnels, the perfect back drop. The stripped back and edginess of the tunnels played perfectly.
Parade is a musical with a book by Alfred Uhry and music and lyrics by Jason Robert Brown.
The musical dramatizes the 1913 trial of Jewish factory manager Leo Frank, who was accused and convicted of raping and murdering a thirteen-year-old employee, Mary Phagan. The trial, sensationalized by the media, aroused anti-Semitic tensions in Atlanta and the U.S. state of Georgia.
The plot of the musical does not shy away from the conclusion of some that the likely killer was the African-American factory janitor Jim Conley, the key witness against Frank at the trial and is hard-hitting from start to finish.
These productions are a true testament to the students and LAMDA. The actors are so compelling and everyone behind the scenes carries out their part with the upmost professional. There is no question that these really will be the next generation of our Industry, which is exactly why we are so proud to be involved.
