NME Awards Minimize

Brit pop...booze...banter...bad behaviour...all must-haves when you are attending something like the NME Awards! The Annual Music Awards ceremony, founded by the magazine NME (New Musical Express) and sponsored by Shock Waves was set to be as ‘rock n roll’ as ever!

Lighting Designer Tim Routeledge created a dark, edgy and atmospheric look to the 02 Academy in Brixton. Richard Martin Lighting supported the main lighting suppliers, Lite-Alternative, by providing twelve of our most recent and exciting purchase – Clay Paky Sharpy.

RML continues to be at the forefront of Moving Light Technology and this time is no exception – being the first rental house in the world to stock the ‘Innovation Award’ unit.

‘This 189W lamp Beam Moving Light with an unprecedented brightness that until now has only been possible with lamps nine times this powerful. Its light beam is in fact so concentrated and aligned that it looks more like a laser ray.’

With huge emphasis on live performance and winners including Muse, Arcade Fire, My Chemical Romance and Biffy Clyro it was always going to be a great night...and it definitely didn’t disappoint.

‘The Awards was an exciting opportunity for us to be involved in another sector of the Entertainment Lighting Industry; one that we look forward to working in more in the future.’ Colin Brooker, Business Development Manager

The bar may have of been drunk dry...the last of the Industry moguls may have been scooped up from under the tables and put in cabs home... and there may be a resounding  groan that it will take them a year to recover...we here at RML say bring it on!!
