Deep in the leafy endive of Henham Park, Southwold lives a charming festival called Latitude. Advertised as ‘more than just a music festival’, there is an eclectic array of acts spread throughout the site with all manor or unexpected pleasures hidden. Examples of the weird and wonderful including mult-coloured sheep and drifting gondolas to name but a few!
This year Richard Martin Lighting (RML) supported long standing LD Pip Rhodes for one of the festivals headline acts, 90s alternative rock band, Suede. In 1992 Suede were hailed ‘The Best New Band in Britain’ and are now doing a number of live shows following the success of their recently released ‘Best Of’ album.
RML provided Martin LC2140 panels for the show.
The LED based video screen has a semi transparent design with easily connecting panels that allow for area coverage of up to 14m in height and no restrictions in width. Each panel frame is 1m x 2m with LEDs laid inside an acrylic tube. The pixel pitch of the panel is 40mm which allows for excellent resolution and the design of the panel creates a seamless image.
The decision to buy the Martin P3-100 System Controllers was an informed move onto the next generation of Martin LC products for Richard Martin Lighting. The P3 offers a vastly superior performance through Cat5e technology eliminating the restrictions of DVI. Using the new Martin protocol the LC panels can be configured simply and quickly and now even at long distances.
Now in its sixth year, Latitude revels in its status as the artsy, craftsy, child-friendly, family festival, with its accent on non-musical attractions and promotion of unusual food and an alternative lifestyle. With so many other fantastic festivals on offer in this country, the obscure elements of this ‘creative camp site’ make it one to remember....and not just for the rain!!
