The London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts (LAMDA) is a leading British drama school, with an international reputation, which this year celebrates its 150th anniversary. Although it might be the oldest drama school in the UK, in recent years, over 98% of its stage management and technical theatre graduates have found work in their chosen filed with weeks of graduation, a true testament to the school and its staff I’m sure you’ll agree.
Richard Martin Lighting sees these students as the future of our industry and supports such school and their pupils at every opportunity. So when we were approached to donate a lighting package of VL1000TS’s for the schools special, anniversary, production of Cabaret, we were more than happy to do so.
The VL1000TS combines the functionality of the ellipsoidal reflector spotlight with the versatility of an automated luminaire and includes an automated, four-blade shutter mechanism.
Wilton Music Hall was the chosen venue for the production and it fitted the war time saloon setting perfectly! The whole show was seamless and professional (some might say ‘Perfectly Marvellous’?!) from start to finish, with an attention to detail that can only come from a core understanding of the industry and what is involved in making a play that say perhaps, ‘Two Ladies’, would happily pay for and recommend. Fantastic vocals, set, costumes....the cheeky waiters being a particular favourite...I could go on and on.
