Even if the name Sue Sylvester doesn’t frighten the life out of you, or you’ve never heard of her, there is no doubt...at some stage... that you will have heard of Glee. Glee fever has completely swept the nation of late and so what more appropriate way for kids to get involved in raising money for Comic Relief than to do Glee Club!?
CBBC favourites Sam and Mark presented the all singing and all dancing talent contest, aired over Red Nose week, in which 18 groups performed in front of celebrity judges (vocal coaches David and Carrie Grant and choreographer Sisco Gomez) to be crowned the nation’s best young Glee Club. Those select few groups were whittled down through week of previous auditions held across the country.
LD Roger Williams designed the spectacular lighting show which was provided by Richard Martin Lighting. Tom Sutherland was on hand to assist Roger as moving light operator.
The impressive lighting rig consisted of VL500, Mac 600, Atomic Strobe, Alpha Spot 700 HPE, Pixel Par 90, LC2140 panels and the real star of the moving light show - Alpha Beam 700.
The Alpha Beam 700 is a special and unique luminaire, conceived as an automated ACL to create parallel light beams, visible even in the brightest scenes. Its small, lightweight, quick-moving body contains the most advanced technology for generating a bright beam that can be coloured and shaped at pleasure, for amazing dynamic mid-air effects.
Roger said ‘it was nice to have the Mac 600’s back on the lighting spec and great to see them doing what they do best.’
From the professionalism of all involved, it was amazing to think it was a kids show and I am sure each and every one of them was as proud, if not more so, as we were to be a part of it.
