It was an emotional time for a lot pf people this week when Blue Peter filmed its last show from BBC Television Centre. For years now generations of families have enjoyed this TV favourite; whether that has been watching the presenters participate in challenges/adventures, using house hold left overs to create amazing crafts or seeing the latest pop start and artists perform.

There was so much happening on the final London show that we could hardly take our eyes off the screen! Britain’s Got Talent winners ‘Diversity’ were in the mix with arguably one of the biggest rigs in the shows history!

Back in December, Richard Martin Lighting purchased one hundred Clay Paky Sharpy! As the first rental house in the world to stock these ‘Innovation Award’ winning units, RML continues to be at the forefront of the latest moving light technology.

Lighting Designer Lee Allen, who is continuously striving to bring a fresh and energetic look to the ever more contemporary show, used 50 of them on their performance to bring a very ‘ strong statement’ look to the urban dance troupe.

This 189W lamp Beam Moving Light, with an unprecedented brightness, until now has only been possible with lights nine times as powerful. Its light beam is in fact so concentrated that it looks more like a laser ray.

Blue Peter was our first show to debut the Sharpys back in January. At the time Lee told me .....

‘The light output from such a small package is amazing! The fast speed of movement was breathtaking! The lamps were small and discrete enough not to draw the eye in the set, but the event they produced was gigantic!’

Obviously this won’t be the end of the show as it will return to our screens later in the year, but will now be filmed from Media City, Salford. RML look forward to working on the show and with all of its team at its new home.
